Explore the rich tapestry of Halasuru, where diverse religious institutions stand side by side, reflecting centuries of cultural harmony — a neighborhood where modern and old Bangalore collide. Halasuru, commonly known as Ulsoor, is one of Bangalore’s oldest neighborhoods, steeped in history, spiritual tradition, and vibrant local life. This heritage walk takes you through narrow lanes and timeless spaces, unveiling stories of faith, architecture, and community that continue to shape this unique part of the city.
Tour Program
- Sri Aurobindo Bhavan
A serene spiritual center nestled amidst lush gardens and housed in a stately bungalow built in 1905, this ashram serves as a hub for meditation and learning, embodying the teachings of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother. The peaceful setting offers a quiet moment of reflection in the heart of the city. - Trinity Church
Visit the historic Trinity Church on MG Road, an architectural gem from the British colonial era. Built in 1851 by the East India Company for the British Regiment in Bangalore, this church even had Winston Churchill among its visitors. Its Gothic-style structure and calm interiors continue to draw people from all walks of life. - Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha
Explore the magnificent Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, a Sikh temple built entirely of gleaming white marble. The Gurudwara radiates peace and equality, and visitors can observe or take part in the ‘Langar’ — a communal meal served to all, reflecting the Sikh values of humility and service. - Someshwara Temple
Step into the 10th-century Someshwara Temple, an ancient marvel dedicated to Lord Shiva. Built during the Chola dynasty, it features beautifully carved pillars and a towering gopuram — a timeless example of Dravidian temple architecture and devotion. - Halasuru Market
A bustling, village-like market with narrow lanes, old-style homes, a cow shed, and sections dedicated to fruits, vegetables, flowers, and spices. It’s a place where different communities come together for trade and daily life, offering a rare glimpse into Halasuru’s living traditions. - Refreshment Break at IDC Kitchen
Take a relaxed break at IDC Kitchen, a popular stop for fresh South Indian tiffin. Enjoy dosas, idlis, and strong filter coffee — the perfect pause before the final stretch of your walk.
